The 2014 XXII Olympic Winter Games have begun!
As many of you know, KPI was founded by 3-time Olympian Tracy Evans. The organization is rooted in the core values of the Olympic movement: Excellence, Friendship and Fair Play, and the belief that sport can be a powerful catalyst for social change.
KPI operates the only sport for development program in the rural community of Gatagara, Rwanda, 90 minutes outside of Kigali. The organization’s year round Let’s Play Fair (LPF) program and curriculum brings boys and girls together in a safe environment using sport and interactive discussions to teach the fundamentals of respect, community, contribution, opportunity and moral courage.
KPI has created a program culture whereby boys and girls are given an opportunity to safely “try on” new behaviors and gender roles so that in time they will begin to treat each other with a deeper level of kindness, respect and a better understanding of each other’s contributions, both on the field and in life. KPI believes that to empower and help girls reach their full potential it is vital that boys play a meaningful role in the process.
KPI needs your support to continue this great work! Celebrating Sochi with your colleagues, friends, families, etc., will allow us to continue to use the core values of the Olympic movement to promote gender equity in our rural village.
