We are honored to have 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist Angela Hucles joining our Kids Play International team. Being such an amazing women, it’s only proper to we share why we love her so much!

Want to meet Angela in person? She’ll be walking the red carpet at our 4th Annual Cocktails for a Cause on April 17th, in Manhattan Beach. Come celebrate Kids Play Int’l and chat with Angela!

Angela HuclesWhat inspired you to get involved with Kids Play International?

A large part of my work and community acts involve messages of empowerment through sports for children and women.  The mission of Kids Play International is completely in line with those messages, and combined with an organization started by a fellow Olympian made it an easy selection for a group to get involved.

How did playing sports help you become the woman you are today?

Playing sports taught me many lessons of how to be successful on the field, but also in life.  It has taught me how to believe in myself and keep trying when I reach an obstacle or even fail.  I am who I am today because of playing sports.

Angela HuclesMy proudest athletic moment:

One of my proudest athletic moments was when I was named tournament MVP and team MVP of my high school basketball team – because it was so unexpected…but I lump winning two Olympic Gold Medals as a combined proudest athletic moment.

The theme song of my life:

This is probably dating myself a bit, but I strive for my theme song to mirror  Whitney Houston’s “One Moment In Time” and Gloria Estefan’s “Reach”.

One thing that most people don’t know about me is:

I like to color coordinate my closet sometimes. 🙂

I am happiest when:

I’ve gone through the majority of my to-do list or when I see the red illuminated “Hot & Fresh Now” sign at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!

My favorite quote:

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
