As many of you know, KPI has been running the Race to Raise funds for our Field of Opportunity in the rural village of Gatagara, Rwanda. With the support of Kids Play Founder, 3x Olympian, Tracy Evans, and our 11 fellow Olympic and professional athlete ambassadors, KPI hopes to raise at least $10,000 via Crowdrise by December 2nd.
Over the past four weeks, we have raised 69% of the funds, or $6,945.00, thanks the efforts of our amazing ambassadors, specifically, Kim Vandenberg ($1,575), Anne Poulin ($1,160) and Bethany Bedford ($700). We are so thankful for all of their support!
100% of the funds raised during this campaign will go towards building our very own Kids Play field for our 120+ participants and 2,500+ students from our partner schools.
We are in dire need of a safe space for our kids to play. Currently, Kids Play offers its Let’s Play Fair programming on the community field by our cell office. At least once a week, during dry season we are forced to move due to community games, and more importantly, we are not able to offer a safe space for our kids to excel while older students surround the field and, at times, intimidate them. Having our own field will enable our kids and coaches the freedom to express themselves without concern as well as depend on set programming throughout the year. Additionally, there are currently no basketball courts open to the community located in Gatagara – this field will include a basketball court!
In short, we can’t thank our ambassadors and donors enough for all of their efforts over the past four weeks and we are so excited by the very thought of having our own safe space for programming – 69% of the way there! If you or anyone you know is interested in joining our efforts, please donate here or contact Tracy.
Special thanks to our spectacular ambassadors:
